About to become a student again?

As a new academic year gets underway, many aspiring counsellors and therapists are beginning their training journey.

If you’re starting counselling, psychotherapy or counselling psychology training, your course may require you to undertake your own personal therapy alongside your studies.

Personal therapy is considered a valuable part of becoming a therapist. It offers a space to explore your own experiences, understand patterns in your relationships, recognise your blind spots and develop a deeper awareness of yourself, all of which can contribute to becoming a more thoughtful and self-aware practitioner.

Having worked as a therapist, counselling lecturer and BACP-accredited practitioner, as well as having experienced both sides of the therapeutic relationship myself, I have a particular interest in supporting people who are training to work therapeutically with others.

Whether personal therapy is a requirement of your course, or you’re simply considering beginning your own therapeutic journey as you embark on training, I’m happy to offer a space to explore what you’re looking for.

I offer both in-person sessions from Lockwood Therapy & Wellbeing in Guildford and remote sessions using Zoom.
